benefits of Personal Training
Achieving and maintaining desirable weight is as much a matter
of exercise and activity as it is a matter of controlling
calories. Regular exercise is the edge that helps assure the
250 calories you're eliminating from your diet come off as
fat.
Exercise is known to benefit weight control in at least
four ways.

1. exercise burns extra calories
First is the obvious benefit
of the extra calories expended during regualr exercise.
2. increases metabolism
Secondly, and perhaps as important is
the concept of EPOC (Excess Post Exercise Oxygen Consumption).
A 20-minute bout of exercise is thought to raise resting
metabolic
rate for some period after exercising has stopped.
Resting
metabolic rate refers to the energy or calories needed
to
stay alive with minimal activity. Even after the
jogger or cyclist has showered and gone on to other things,
he
or
she may be expending more calories per hour as a result
of the exercise program.
3. improves appetite regulation
A third way regular exercise
is thought to improve weight control is by improving our
appetite regulating mechanisms
so that we're more in tune with our actual calorie needs.
It's not known exactly how this works but it's thought
that
we need a certain level of "energy throughput"
for our appetite regulatory mechanisms to function properly.
Energy throughput refers to the amount of energy
or calories consumed and used over
a certain period of time.
With regular exercise we are able
to "put through" more calories and thus reach
the level needed for our appetite regulatory system to function
properly.
4. muscle toning
Finally, gaining muscle
through resistance training is crucial to weight loss and
management.
This
is
because muscle tissue requires more energy to function
than fat does, even while at rest.
Therefore, the more muscle
you
have the more calories you burn – whatever you are
doing!
If this is not enough reason to exercise, consider
this: regular exercise
helps improve our appearance by firming up muscles and smoothing
out curves.
Done regularly, it also helps develop endurance,
increase agility, improve posture, relieve tension and
reduce high blood pressure. And, it doesn't take a lot of regular exercise
to make a difference.
So where does a personal trainer come in?
A personal trainer can help you achieve your individual
weight management goals by designing a programme for your
specific
needs and aims, whilst taking into account you’re your
fitness level, health history and any intervening factors.
Most importantly your programme will be safe and realistic
and specific to your body only. This way you not only achieve
the results you want but you also have achieved them as
quickly as possible.
